This page details some commonly asked questions concerning our logging policy.
The storage duration of log files containing personal data depends on the contracted product and legal requirements. Additionally, for many products, we provide customers with the option to determine if and how long log files are stored. In the event of an attack, we reserve the right to automatically collect log files to defend against the attack. These data are retained for a maximum of 14 days.
Please note that this article does not claim to be exhaustive. We update this article regularly to address relevant questions.
For our webhosting products, the storage periods for data differ based on the control panel used. Here is a list of the different possibilities:
For web hosting products that are operated with Plesk Onyx, we store access to your websites for 14 days by default. You can view these log files under "Logs". The log files are located under "Files" in the "logs" directory in your web hosting account. To delete files sooner, you have to "empty" them. To do this, open the file and delete all of its contents.
An easier way to manage log files is to use the "Log Rotation" function. You can find this function in your domain under "Logs".
Here you can adjust the size of the data to be stored or the number of days that log files are stored.
In addition to log files, we provide statistics in Webhosting accounts. As a customer, it is your responsibility to disable the statistics if you are not allowed to collect visitor statistics for your websites. You can configure these settings in the hosting settings for the corresponding domain. You are free to use your own statistics tools, such as Matomo, and configure them according to your requirements.
