Viewing Email Headers

Learn how to view email headers.

In addition to the message itself, an email also consists of a header. It contains technical information about the recipient, sender, and their IP address. In cases of phishing or email spoofing, the header can be used to identify the actual sender.

How you can display the email header depends on your email program. If your email program is not listed here, check your mail provider's help center for instructions on how to display email headers.
